From Drab to Fab-Dining set makeover

I purchased from my sister a while ago, a beautiful vintage dining set.  The set was old and tired, but I loved the shape and pretty details of the chairs.  I knew I wanted to make it over for my daughter - so begun a labor of love and passion for turning the old into new again.

I had never really recovered chairs before and the first try - the foam was way to thick.  1" thick foam was more than enough.  It really was a labor of love, lots of sanding and recoats of paint.

Here are the before and afters.

The old chairs were certainly sad and tired

I gave my daughter my first set of Gorham china (it was never used).
The green in the china just popped against the coral color in the chairs.

Side table gets a makeover

A friend of mine gave me a great little side table.  I really love the look of it and the little leaf knob on the drawer.  I was not a fan of the wood tone on it because I really didn't have anything that went well with the wood tone.

I wanted to paint it, but I knew I wanted to paint it bolder than all of my other furniture I had painted.  I was at Lowes and spotted the sample sizes of paint from Valspar.  There were many colors I absolutely loved, included a chartreuse green (which I purchased for another project), purples, etc.; the red caught my eye.

As you can see the before table had some personality, but I think the red just kicked it up to a whole new level.

I'm featured on Hometalk - painted Furniture On Hometalk

I could spend hours being inspired by the posts and articles on Hometalk.  I love decorating and especially have a passion for making the old new again, especially furniture.  I was asked recently by Hometalk to curate a board on painted furniture after I featured a post on the before and after of a dining room set I had recently updated.  Of course I said yes!  I have to say I was flattered and excited they asked me.   Please stop by and check out the inspiring, beautiful projects on this board. I think they are projects that even a novice "do it yourselfer" could tackle. Just click on my board below and it will take you right to the featured projects.

I'd love to hear from anyone stopping by about any recent projects they have tackled and what they think of the board I curated.

Bedroom Reveal -Part II

I recently shared photos of our upstairs remodel, featuring the new bathroom.  Today I am sharing photos of our new master bedroom.  Our home is over 100 years old and slowly throughout the years the interior and exterior have seen some changes.  The last was the upstairs.  The whole upstairs really needed to be gutted to allow for better insulating and more options for update.  I really love how the bedroom turned out.

Love the blingy light fixture

I had some rope trim from another project and asked to have that installed on the sill.
I like the way it enhanced the sill.
