Some of my favorite ornaments and what I got for Christmas!

We have a very ecclectic tree.  Ornaments comprise of ones my children have made from school, since they were three and four, to ornaments

From our honeymoon

Our first Christmas together

My daughter Cassondra's first baby ornament

My daughter Megan's first baby ornament

My son Adam's first baby ornament

Some beautiful ornaments my husband bought in Russia

Of course I love the sparkly too..

Oh, and my wonderful, dear husband got me a Canon Powershot SX40HS - that's why these photos are so wonderful!  So much better than my old Kodak...

A few Christmas photos.

I wanted to add a few Christmas photos so you could see the hutch all painted (Annie Sloane - in Graphite) and the buffet I redid all decked out in holiday decorations.  I really love the hutch and now I have somewhere to store my Christmas dishes (during the holiday) and some antique glasses I purchased a while back.  Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas this year, I know we did.

The buffet is finished

before Annie Sloan chalkpaint
Well, I feel like I finally accomplished something today. I finished the buffet that I purchased from my sister. My husband finally went back to work after injuring himself in July, so I really felt I could devote a good chunk of time to accomplishing this. Its all decorated for fall. I just love the way it came out. I really want to paint my dining set now. The base of the buffet is painted in Annie Sloan chalkpaint in graphite, and over the top is old white. I sprayed the hardware with brushed nickel and semi gloss black to give it an aged look.    Here's the before

Let me know what you think.

Bedroom in transformation

I've been wanting to do something with our master bedroom for a long time now - actually since I sold my home and moved into, my now husband's home.  The whole house was really void of any character, color and decorating.  Our bedroom is quite small, but cozy.  These before pics are awful, because I literally had stripped the room of any pictures and had just "thrown" the down comforter on the bed - for those cold nights.  My husband is away 3 wks out of the month, so that comforter comes in handy!

Here is the before pic of our bedroom:

Here is the after.  The end tables - I spoke about in a prior post.  I had purchased them from my sister.  I painted them with Valspar paint, and sprayed the hardware in brushed nickel from Rustoleum.  The wall paint is from Valspar also in Sleek Grey.  I still need to add some artwork and a window treatment - oh, and new carpeting!

Here's what the table looked like before..

Dresser turned paper storage

Finally I finished something!  Had the day off so I thought I would revamp the dresser I had bought a while back on Craigslist.  I really needed some storage for my 12x12 papers and some other things for scrapbooking, etc.  I'm an avid scrapbooker so I have accumulated alot of papers.

Here's the before and after.  I was kind of going for a whimsical look.  I like it.  I painted the dresser with Rustoleum 2x and sprayed the handles in brushed nickel. Added some scrapbook papers to the front with modge podge and Voila!  Nice litle addition to my scrapbooking room.

Back from vacation

Well it sure is good to be home!  My husband and I took our kids to No. Myrtle Beach, SC this past week.  What a welcome and overdue vacation!  Wanted to share a few pics from our vacation and I'm definitely ready to get back in the saddle to revamp some pieces to show you.  I have one I will post tomorrow of a dresser I had done but did not get a chance to photograph it yet.  If you remember from a previous post - here.  Of course I had to throw in a single photo of my adorable grandson Carter Timothy (son of my eldest daughter Megan).  Enjoy!

Update: China Cabinet & Buffet

I am sooo excited I cannot contain myself.  I talked about a beautiful china cabinet and buffet I saw on Craigslist the other day; you'll see pictures on my previous post.  Well I am so happy to tell, we are picking it up tomorrow morning!

The thing is, these are such beautiful pieces of furniture, would you paint them?  I want to lighten them up for my dining room, but I hate to put paint on them they are so beautiful on their own; seems sacrilegious to paint them.  Would you paint them?  I appreciate anyone's input on this one.

A china cabinet and buffet

I nearly fell off my chair this afternoon when I saw this posting on Craigslist.  What is killing me is my husband has made me swear off buying any more furniture until I sell off what I have already.  As you know I have been a professed Craigslist stalker.  Every day I think I am on there scouring for new things to paint.  But this one is too good to pass up.  Aren't they beautiful - and only $120.00!

Craigslist Chairs

Hope everyone is having a beautiful Saturday!  Just wanted to share a rather recent purchase I made from Craigslist.  I purchased two absolutely beautiful chairs for my livingroom.  When I viewed the pictures online, I had no idea of the detail on the upper part of the chair, I loved the carved rosettes.  And the kicker!!  The chairs were only $75 for both!  I am slowly adding furniture to our livingroom, waiting to get just the right look.  I recently painted the walls with Martha Stewart Living - parchment paper.  I love the color and so did the hubby.

Here are the beautiful chairs I purchased.

Another wish list item

OK, I am professing to be a Craigslist stalker lately.  I can't help it.  My husband says we have no more room for furniture that I want to "make over".  He's supportive of "my hobby", yes, but I am sharing our basement space with him.  But I really want this giant of a china cabinet.  I can just see it made over in chalkpaint in a beautiful, light color.  It has potential, I think.

And get this, ONLY $20.  You can't beat that! I'll keep you posted to see if I win this "battle".

New Craigslist Purchase

I picked up an item this morning to revamp.  It's a twin headboard and footboard (not pictured).  The reason I liked it so much was the swirls that were on it.  Now I just have to decide if it will be generic or feminine for a little girl.  If generic I am going to go with Chalk Paint in Graphite for a base and go over it with Old White.  If feminine, probably a soft pink and possibly some other embellishment in the middle.  Not bad for $15.

What do you think??  Generic/feminine?

I Spy A Dresser

WISHLIST: I am loving this dresser I found on Craigslist, apparently built by the National Mount Airy Company.  It's an antique dresser and I can't stop looking at it, love the detail at the bottom.  It's just waiting for a chalkpaint treatment.   At $50 it's probably a great buy, but I am going to try to get it for less.  What do you think?  Should I, shouldn't I?

Here's a pic of the beauty.

New Craigslist find

I have been trying to find a new storage cabinet to store my 12x12 papers in my craftroom.  I'm an avid scrapbooker and stamper and sorting through a large storage bin to try and find what papers I want to work with is not my idea of organized.  I kept looking at this picture of a dresser on Craigslist and liked the knobs and the detail on the sides of each drawer and thought it perfect to sort all my large paper in.  I scored the dresser for $40.  I'm working on it now and will post the reveal in a few days.  I'm still working on the child's rocker I posted a few weeks back and awaiting my chalkpaint delivery this coming week to paint the buffet.  Stay tuned.

Here is the before on the dresser

Decor To Adore: A French Giveaway on Wayfaring Wednesday

Decor To Adore: A French Giveaway on Wayfaring Wednesday

I was over at Decor To Adore this afternoon and was reading her blog and admiring the pictures from her trip and thought I would link up.  I will never forget the wonderful honeymoon my husband and I went on a few years ago.  We've only been married almost two years now.  We live close to the Adirondacks and we both love the mountains, so that was our first stop on our week long trip.  Moments and beautiful scenery I will not forget.
